You Owe You

We’ve all felt taken advantage of. Wether it was the amount of time, energy, resources given. We often fell like those who benefited from our acts don’t truly value the vast amount effort required.

How can they?

Only you know the full extent of how daunting each task can weigh on your mental, physical and spiritual state of being. It seems that no matter how much you try and convey messages of the value of the task or of the effort that was required to complete such tasks those who benefit will never truly understand.

“Everyone will use things based on its convenience. Few are willing to help fix it when it breaks.”

It’s not your job to make others understand and appreciate your value. You must learn to do that for yourself. We all want to be accepted, congratulated, appreciated and valued. You must give yourself this confidence comforting and reinsuring who you are, consistently.

We look for others to see our value. Wether it be our supervisors on the job, family members, close friends, significant others, teachers, or coaches. We look consistently for others to reconfirm our value, our level of importance.

We do this by steadily proving ourselves to others waiting on their validation of our accomplishments.

YOU OWE YOU.

You went to college and got a degree that has YOUR name on it. Not your parents, brothers/sister, extended family etc. You get paid every month based on a check with YOUR name on it, because YOU did the work. This is not to say we are where we are today because we stand on the shoulders of giants. Our ancestors sacrifices allowed us to move forward with more opportunities. However, I can’t help to think that they thought they deserved better. Yes, others benefited but they did what they thought was best because they wanted better.

You should want better for yourself. Not only because it will help your family advance, not only because it will make others happy, not because it will allow others to suddenly find you as valuable partner.

YOU OWE YOU.

You are worth every good thing on this earth.

Despite your mistakes, short comings, and failures. No matter how many times you fall straight on your face.

You deserve to be loved.

No matter how much of your genuine self you are and how overwhelming that may seem to others, no matter your insecurities, no matter how far away you are from your goals and aspirations.

Only you can be you.

What you can give and bring to this world is unique only to you. Only you have the originality of creative ideas, genuine personality, wildly obtainable goals, giving spirit, and unwavering love.

You don’t owe anyone else anything more than what you wouldn’t already give to yourself. Pay it forward for yourself first. Only by helping yourself can you then be in best state possible to help others.

YOU OWE YOU.
