Traffic Lights
Ready. Set. Go!
You’re in a hurry for work. You’re not trying to be late, again. It seems that every light ahead of you keeps turning from green, to yellow, to red.
Why is it that we rush every moment? Why do we force our way through each interaction that could present an unknown but valuable relationship. We’re green, oblivious as we see all of the opportunities that lie in front of us. From land to monetary assets, we see green, fresh, opportunities. We focus on what we can get from a relationship, rather than what we are able to give. To aid in making those around us better versions of their selves. We carry around this stigma of “eat or be eaten” as an every man for himself attitude. This mentality gets us nowhere by stepping on the heads of others. We elevate further in life by stepping on the shoulders of giants advancing those that are still to come behind us. There is nothing wrong with being proactive taking initiative and making a way out of a situation that seemed to have failed. The risk takers are the ones who push us forward in life by not being afraid to fail. It is good still yet, to be mindful of each opportunity and whether or not patience is the best resource used for a desired overall outcome.
BE AWARE!
Caution: overthinking situations and opportunities can cause expiration dates to occur sooner than expected. While most drive with caution through a yellow light, indicating to slow their speed and prepare to come to a halt. Others understand that an opportunity is about to end, continuing on full speed ahead. Depending on the situation one might use one or both techniques. So how do we know when is the right time to persevere and when it’s time to practice patience. To be able to discern the correct response in yellow light situation focuses on more than time, practice and skill. It takes into account the cognitive skill level of an individual. Inquiring on their ability to take a step back from a situation to assess it properly. A decision can be made soon after taking the proper time to revise and analyze a situation. Neither decision in a particular situation is a bad perspective to have. Often we want an outcome so bad that we force situations and opportunities that are not intended for us. We can become so possessed with the idea of making an opportunity our own that we miss out on a blessing that not only has the potential to be bigger but better for us in the long run. Having the discernment to analyze which would be the best course of action helps in using our problem solving cognitive skills.
RED LIGHT
Simon says! Red light!
We’ve all played the game listening to “Simon Says”. In the game you have to listen to Simon throughout the entire game other wise you’ve lost and are out. Much like Simon, Life has its own set of rules that are solely focused on what it says and how you must follow suit. Life will allow you to mess out up just to repeat the same lesson over and over again. Each lessons takes on a new face, a new job, a new environment until that particular lesson is learned. We not only grow from each lesson in knowledge but we evolve as individuals shedding an older version of thinking. Things that did not seem possible at one point now seem a visible from a clear perspective. A red light can be necessary. It can allow us time to think and process. It can give us the time to ensure we are on the right path. It allows us to look around becoming more aware of our surroundings. It in turn refocuses us and allows us to recondition ourselves.
READY. SET. GO!
What is for you is for you. Often times things do not go as planned and that is a key characteristic of life. Learning not only how to adapt but to persevere. Ensuring that you are successful in whatever endeavor you pursue. Life is a mental maze. The only through is forward.
